Chicks News - 9th October 2026

This week our Topic Book was Goldilocks and the Three Bears. We chose this book as it relates to our upcoming World Porridge Day in support of Mary’s Meals. This celebration has offered a great opportunity to build on our recent learning about the Harvest, kind hearts, and the importance of sharing and supporting one another.

On Thursday, the children had the opportunity to make their own porridge. We used oats alongside a variety of fresh and dried fruits before enjoying our delicious creations together at Snack Time.

Our Role Play area has been transformed into the Three Bears’ home, where the children have used their imaginations to retell the story. With different-sized chairs, bowls and other props on offer, they explored the characters and events from the story while developing their communication, language and imaginative play. We loved hearing all of their creative conversations and seeing the children bring the story to life!

In Art, we got creative and made our very own Goldilocks and the Three Bears using a variety of materials. The children had the opportunity to explore different textures, colours and techniques while creating their own unique characters and developing their creativity and fine motor skills.
