Kits News - 8th March 2024

The Kits had a great week this week and one of the highlights was celebrating ‘World Book Day’ on Thursday. World Book Day is one of our favourite annual events and the children enjoy dressing up as much as the teachers! The Kits’ costumes were amazing and they were all very excited to show each other their chosen characters.

During the week we have been enjoying the children’s favourite books from home and have been reading them in Circle Time, Free Play and during our Focus Time sessions where we had a ‘Snuggly Read’ under the blankets, with the cushions. The children have developed their Communication and Language and Comprehension skills as they have talked about their favourite characters and discussed events from the stories. The topic of ‘World Book Day’ also teaches them ‘British Values’ as they learn about the importance of respecting each other’s choices and opinions.

The other highlight of the week was our wonderful 'Bring Mummy to School Day' on Friday. It was lovely to have all the Mummies and some Grannies visit our nursery and we hope you enjoyed your morning with us. The children made some amazing 'Easter Bonnets' with their Mummies and Grannies and we were very impressed at how creative you all were! Afterwards the children played with their Mummies inside the classroom and spent some time in the Outdoor Learning Environment. Miss Leisa came and sang some songs and we loved singing and dancing with our Mummies to our favourite tunes.

It’s hard at the end of ‘Bring Mummy to School Day’ to say goodbye, but we made this easier for the children as they gave their Mummies biscuit as a parting gift. The children loved making the biscuits the day before and were all keen to help measure and mix the ingredients together to make sugar free shortbread. They developed their hand strength as they rolled the dough flat with the rolling pins and used the cutters to cut out the biscuits for their Mummies. They were very proud of what they made and were excited to show them to their parents the next day.

We hope you all have a lovely Mother’s Day on Sunday and we look forward to seeing you next week.
