Squirrels News - 13th March 2026

This week our Role Play Area was set up as an office. The office was soon transformed by the children into a dentist’s reception, as the dinosaurs tried to get appointments to have their teeth cleaned. All the managers and receptionists were hands on deck, booking appointments, writing up patient notes and taking a vast number of phone calls from expectant patients.

Once the dinosaurs had been booked and checked in, they were off to visit the exceptional dentists of the Squirrel Class, who reminded them to brush their teeth twice a day. Some of the patients had to take the train to get to their appointments; however, various parts of the train line were being extended, which caused all sorts of delays as everyone tried to go about their daily business.

This week we headed to Dew Drop Inn, where we had a wonderful time with the pensioners (Big Kids). Everyone revealed the magic of the special Easter eggs which came alive with colour when the top layer was scratched away. It was such an engaging activity, and both the older and younger children had so much fun. We then finished the session by threading ribbon through the eggs so they can be hung up as Easter decorations.

To finish off a marvellous week, Friday 13th March was a very exciting day in the 345 calendar as it was Bring Mummy to School Day! Our morning began with mummies and grandparents joining the children in the classroom to explore the different activities. Together they enjoyed numeracy games, colouring, building, and of course exploring the office Role Play Area.

It was then time to get creative as the children and their grown-ups decorated Easter bonnets together. This is a lovely annual tradition here at 345, and it was wonderful to see the return of chicks, sheep, eggs and many other favourite bonnet decorations. Miss Leisa then joined us in the classroom for a wonderful music session, where the children shared their special mummy song before we presented the Mummy’s with a card for Mother’s Day this Sunday.

Once the Mummy’s had left we then headed off on a community walk, where we visited a few charity shops and talked about reusing items and how the proceeds go to charities to help people. After our walk, we returned to the classroom for a story before home time.
